Death Penalty in Alabama 

According to, Alabama is the only state whose anti-death penalty organization which is known as Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty, was founded by death row inmates in 1988. From the years of 1927 to 1976 Alabama performed 153 executions and is still know today to perform more executions than most states in the U.S. Two notable executions performed in the state of Alabama are the cases of Walter McMillian and Anthony Ray Hinton. The Walter McMillian case was signiciant die to the fact that the jury recommended a life sentence, but the judge over-ruled the sentence and recommended the death penalty, and the Anthiny Ray Hinton case was significant due to the invalid testimony of the state’s forensic examiner, but still lead to the execution of Hinton.
